NOTE: Where a state’s permit is honored (often called “reciprocity”) will change from time to time. Having multiple state carry permits can help cover the gaps in any potential changes. Arizona Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) Fees:

State application fees of $60 (for the first 5 years) and the renewal fee of $43 (every 5 years after) for Arizona residents and non-residents are paid directly to the state at the time the application is submitted and are not included in the class fee. Arizona permits can be applied for by mail. These forms are provided for you during class and your instructor will assist you in completing them.

After receiving an Arizona Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP), you are allowed to carry a concealed firearm in most places within the state of Arizona. However, there are certain places where carrying a concealed firearm is not allowed, even with a CWP. These include:

• Federal buildings, such as post offices and courthouses
• K-12 schools, and school grounds
• Polling places on election day
• Nuclear power plants
• Game refuges, and wildlife management areas
• Indian reservations, unless you have written permission from the tribe
• Places where carrying firearms is prohibited by federal law
• Any place where the carrying of firearms is prohibited by state law or regulation

It's important to note that private property owners have the right to prohibit firearms on their property, so it's important to be aware of any posted signs or verbal notices indicating that firearms are not allowed.

Arizona has concealed carry reciprocity agreements with a number of other states, which means that if you have an Arizona Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP), you may be able to legally carry your firearm in those states as well. However, it's important to check the laws of the state you're planning to visit or travel through to make sure you're in compliance with their laws, as laws and regulations may vary from state to state.

Arizona has reciprocity agreements with the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont and Wyoming.

It's also important to note that laws and regulations are subject to change, so it's important to check for updates and for any new agreements or changes in laws that may have been made. It's also important to check if the state you're planning to visit has any restrictions or additional requirements for non-residents and out-of-state permit holders.

Fingerprinting:

• Fingerprinting Services MAY be available during class depending on location and local requirements.
• Legal Heat does NOT provide this service, but Fingerprinting Services are offered through the local instructor directly.
• Any issues with fingerprinting services or DIY kits should be directed to the providing instructor, not Legal Heat

When applying for your home state permit your local issuing agency may want to fingerprint you. Your instructor will provide full details during class.

In classes that include the AZ and UT certifications, instructors MAY be offering DIY Fingerprint Kits for sale that come with instructions, ink strips and enough fingerprint cards to apply for both permits.

• Arizona’s application requires TWO fingerprint cards.

*If using the DIY Fingerprint Kit, please be sure that your writing is legible, written in black ink, and your fingerprints are ROLLED not PRESSED and they are clean with no smudges or smears.

• Passport Photos MAY be offered in some classes by the instructor for a small fee.
• If your instructor is not offering Passport Photos in your class you can have them taken and printed at your local pharmacy.

First, your gun should be completely unloaded and in a secure gun case (or range bag). Magazines may be pre-loaded but they must NOT be inserted into your firearm and should be stored separately from your firearm. Preloaded magazines will help save time at the range. Your gun and ammunition must be securely locked in your vehicle or otherwise secured during any classroom portion of the day(s). The only time guns are to be loaded is at the firing line of the gun range, after your instructor has directed you to load. All other times they are to be completely unloaded.

Items to bring to the range include:

• A fully functioning UNLOADED, CASED semiautomatic pistol or revolver. No antiques.
• 30 rounds of ammunition.  No steel cased, armor piercing or tracer ammo permitted.
• Ear and eye protection.
• An auto-loader or speed-loader if preferred, but note: you must show your instructor you can successfully manually load and unload your firearm as part of the range requirement.
• Comfortable (range of motion) clothes. No V-necks or low-cut shirts.
• Flat-soled shoes with good traction and support that completely enclose your feet.  No flip-flops, sandals or open footwear.
• Snacks and drinks are permitted but will not be allowed at the firing line.

There are no compromises regarding safety. Safety is the most important aspect of all firearm-related classes. Any unsafe or disruptive behavior in class or at the range will result in immediate dismissal.  Any student dismissed due to unsafe or disruptive behavior will not be refunded any portion of the class fee. The instructor has sole discretion on safety matters.
