Utah Concealed Firearm Permit (CFP) Fee: 

State application fees of $63.25 (non-resident), $53.25 (resident) for the first 5 years is the initial application fee and $25.75 every 5 years after to renew.  Utah permits can be applied for by mail. These forms are provided for you during class and your instructor will assist you in completing them. Application fees are paid directly to the state at the time the application is submitted and are not included in the class fee.

Utah Concealed Firearm Permit (CFP) Renewal Fee:

To renew online, please go to https://secure.utah.gov/concealed-firearms. To renew over the internet the total cost is $20.75 for Utah residents or $25.75 for out-of-state permit holders.  There is a $0.75 convenience fee to renew over the internet.

Additional Information:

After receiving a Utah Concealed Firearm Permit (CFP), you are allowed to carry a concealed firearm in most places within the state of Utah and in other states that have reciprocity agreements with Utah. However, there are certain places where carrying a concealed firearm is not allowed, even with a CFP. These include:

• Federal buildings, such as post offices and courthouses
• K-12 schools, and school grounds
• Polling places on election day
• Nuclear power plants
• Game refuges, and wildlife management areas
• Indian reservations, unless you have written permission from the tribe
• Places where carrying firearms is prohibited by federal law
• Any place where the carrying of firearms is prohibited by state law or regulation

It's important to note that private property owners have the right to prohibit firearms on their property, so it's important to be aware of any posted signs or verbal notices indicating that firearms are not allowed.

It is also important to note that if you are a law enforcement officer or a retired law enforcement officer, you may have additional places where you can carry your firearm and you may have additional rights to carry your firearm.

Utah has Concealed Carry Reciprocity agreements with a number of other states, which means that if you have a Utah Concealed Firearm Permit (CFP), you may be able to legally carry your firearm in those states as well. Fingerprinting:

Fingerprinting Services MAY be available during class depending on location and local requirements.

When applying for your home state permit your local issuing agency may want to fingerprint you. Your instructor will provide full details during class.

Any classes teaching the AZ and UT certifications we will be offering DIY Fingerprint Kits for sale that come with instructions, ink strips and enough fingerprint cards to apply for both permits.

• Arizona’s application requires TWO fingerprint cards.

In classes where we teach the Utah certification, instructors may take your picture and print out one passport size photo for you to submit with your Utah application. Please note: Not all instructors will have access to photo printers and may not be able to provide a photo. If your instructor cannot provide a photo you can typically have a passport photo printed at your local pharmacy for a small fee.

• Arizona does not require a photo with their application.

First, your gun should be completely unloaded and in a secure gun case. Magazines unloaded as well. Your gun and ammunition must be securely locked in your vehicle or otherwise secured during any classroom portion of the day(s). The only time guns are to be loaded is at the firing line of the gun range, after your instructor has directed you to load. All other times they are to be completely unloaded.

Items to bring to the range include:

• A fully functioning UNLOADED, CASED semiautomatic pistol or revolver. No antiques.
• 50 rounds of ammunition.  No steel cased, armor piercing or tracer ammo permitted.
• Ear and eye protection.
• An auto-loader or speed-loader if preferred, but note: you must show your instructor you can successfully manually load and unload your firearm as part of the range requirement.
• Comfortable (range of motion) clothes. No V-necks or low-cut shirts.
• Flat-soled shoes with good traction and support that completely enclose your feet.  No flip-flops, sandals or open footwear.
• Snacks and drinks are permitted but will not be allowed at the firing line.
